John Auber is Managing Director-National Strategy at RUE. He is a recognized leader in the industry and one of the most widely respected and esteemed specialty retail consultants in the country. Alongside John’s national real estate expertise, his national regard extends to that of his reputation. John’s tenured relationships amongst all facets of the industry are testament to the quality of his character and worthy of the most profound measures of trust.
John’s experience spans over 30 years with his strategic acumen cultivated early successes corporately for Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and J. Crew. John’s consulting clients began in 2004 when he established The Auber Group (TAG). John’s services and skillset were why TAG was hired as Nike’s first external real estate consultant. Through demonstrated success TAG was asked to represent all of Nike’s subsidiaries. John has enjoyed long-standing relationships with clients such as Bluemercury, Lucky Brand, lululemon, and Restoration Hardware. TAG’s clients expanded to include recognizable names such as Brahmin, Eddie Bauer, Juicy Couture, M.Gemi, Serena and Lily, Sur La Table, and The Paper Store.
Over the past 10 years, young and digitally native tenants have sought out TAG’s services, including Giggle, Stance, Native, Follain, M. Gemi, Ministry of Supply, Sweetgreen, Everlane, Framebridge and American Giant. By leveraging John’s extensive experience, TAG has redefined the merchandise mix in retail settings ranging from regional malls, lifestyle centers, street-front, entertainment centers, and outlet centers. Currently, John leads the national expansion efforts for Everlane, American Giant, Framebridge, and Bluemercury, with whom he has worked with for over 13 years and facilitated upwards of 150 leases.
John is dedicated to providing best-in-class specialty real estate services for tenants. John’s deep experience and relationships offer a powerful client-driven approach to real estate strategy, development, and deployment.
John received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island. He has served on the advisory boards of Sweetgreen, Boston Financial Management and The RI Squash Association, and is a current board member of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. John is a proud father of his children Grant and Symmi and a dedicated husband to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer. John is an avid runner and especially enjoys spending time with family and friends while golfing and fishing the coastal waters of Maine.
